The groundwork has been done. La Vida Kids Club has established a sterling reputation as a first rate organization offering essential health education and health care access information to underserved minority communities through a sound program with proven benefits, dedicated and talented staff and a commitment to the parents and caregivers served.
Through evaluation/feedback, letters from teachers and parents, and requests to expand our outreach, we know that we are making a difference. But, we continue to be challenged by the huge number of children we cannot reach. To that end, we have recently launched a grant writing effort to Foundations and are seeking corporate sponsors to fund our needed expansion. In 2005 our desired outreach to a total of 25,000 children every month will increase our current outreach from 5% to 9% of the target uninsured population. Even then, clearly, more needs to be done if we are to realize our vision that foresees:
- Communities of healthy children with robust futures as productive adults
- Communities in which health care professionals and policymakers build bridges with parents and children to resolve the pressing health care issues that jeopardize all of our futures.
- Communities where all members are empowered, including the young, the non-literate and the newly migrant to take control of their own health outcomes.
La Vida Kids Club is committed to help make this vision a reality as it believes that its program is perfectly suited to the goal of optimizing the delivery of health care services that will result in the health and wellbeing for children in the underserved minority communities in Los Angeles.
